A New Year, A New Grayson

On January 2nd, Grayson got his teeth capped. He broke his two front teeth while he was learning to walk, and they've been okay until now -- the last time we took him to the dentist he said the teeth were finally dying, and were worn down to the nerve. So we said goodbye to Gray's "shark teeth" (as he called them), and got some new "square teeth" (as he calls them now!)

He was so groggy and out of it for the first day while the sedation was wearing off. I enjoyed some snuggle time while he was passed out. :)

This is the next day -- still quite swollen. But he's SO happy with them!

He was cute before, but now he's just downright handsome! He loves his new teeth, and is happy to show them off to everyone. I've even seen him biting food with his front teeth, which he's never done before. I'm so glad we did it!

T's First Birthday Party

Little T had such a great first birthday party! We made it a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme, since it's one of his favorite books, and since he crawls like a caterpillar. :) I made his "party hat" with the caterpillar on it (inspired by one on Pinterest)

Thatcher is ONE YEAR OLD!!

Thatcher Arie is ONE YEAR OLD!! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by! My little T-bear is such a sweet, mellow, fun little guy! He is such an important part of our family, and is such a blessing to us. Here are his 12 month pics.

Here's a bit about my sweet little man:
He is 30.8 inches long (79%), and weighs 19 lbs 10 oz (8%). Still following the growth curve, just tall and skinny as always!
Thatcher thinks he's a big boy, and tries to do whatever big brother Grayson is doing. This perturbs Gray a bit when T tries to steal whatever he's playing with.
T is KIND OF crawling, though he still doesn't do the traditional hands-and-knees crawl. He either wiggles across the floor like a caterpillar, or he scoots himself around on his bum, pulling with his hands and pushing with his foot. He's quite efficient at it, however, and sure does get around where he wants to go!
He loves to scoot himself over to the front window and pull himself up so he can see out the window. He pretty much loves to pull himself up on anything -- he loves to stand and cruise around the furniture.
T is expanding his vocabulary quite nicely -- he babbles and coos and chatters all day long.
He laughs all the time, and it's my favorite sound in the world. He laughs at anything and everything!
He loves to eat -- here's hoping he STAYS that way and isn't picky like his brother! His favorite snack is "Baby Balls" -- these little Japanese ball cookie things we get at Steve's aunt's house. He loves em! (That's what he's eating in the first pic at the top).
He's still nursing, which I LOVE -- except the whole biting thing. OW. He still just has two bottom teeth, but I suspect there are more coming soon.
T has the craziest curls ever, and I LOVE them! People keep telling me he needs a haircut, and I just say NEVER! Oh, I love those soft, sweet curls!
He's still co-sleeping with us -- another thing I love. I love having him next to me, being able to snuggle my sweet boy all night! He makes the sweetest little sounds and faces while he sleeps. And most mornings I wake up to chubby little hands patting my face, and a sweet little voice saying "deedledeedledeedle mama-mamaaaa". What could be better than that!? I said I'd start to transition him to his own crib after he turned one, so I guess I have to now..... not sure I'm quite ready to give him up yet :)
He's getting old enough now that Grayson loves playing with him -- it's so fun to watch them together.

Our Christmas

Merry Christmas! We had quite the eventful few days!

We alternate each year who we spend Christmas with -- this year Christmas Eve was with the Lowes, and Christmas day was with the Wayments.

Christmas Eve, we went to my mom's house for our annual Christmas breakfast -- so delicious as always!

JD "won" Christmas this year by giving us all the most memorable gifts of all time. Nude pictures of himself with strategically placed bows, presents, etc covering the naughty bits. This was my mom's reaction when she saw hers. She was CRYING, she was laughing so hard! I personally STILL wish I could wash my eyeballs! It was hilarious!

We went home for naps, (lovely), then we went to Ama's house for our annual homemade soups dinner. I guess I didn't manage to get any pictures there! (anyone have any they wanna shoot my way?!)

On Christmas day, we went to Steve's parents' house. The boys opened their presents, and we had another delicious breakfast!

After playing with all the new toys for a bit, we were able to go to sacrament meeting at Steve's parents' ward. It was so nice to be able to go to church on Sunday and have some time dedicated to thinking of the Savior.

After church, we came back to the Wayments' house and relaxed for a little bit. Gray snuggled up with his daddy and played with his new Lightning McQueen toy that plays a game on his daddy's iPad. It was sweet -- had to snap a pic.

We went over to Steve's aunt's house later in the afternoon for fun and food. Didn't get pics there, either. I guess I was too busy :) After that, we went over to Steve's parents' house again to open our presents from Scott and Jeanne (great stuff -- thanks!) Then we headed over to Steve's cousin Ryan's house for a bit.

We had a great holiday! I'm so glad we live so close to all our family and get to see them so often! We love you all! Thanks for everything!

Happy Santa Claus Day!

Steve and I decided that our family is going to have Santa come the week before Christmas (we were going to have him come on the Dutch holiday Sinterklasse day on December 6th, but, uh...Santa wasn't quite ready!)-- this way, we can have one day for Santa, and then have Christmas be about CHRIST. So this past Friday night, Gray made cookies with Nani (the traditional stars, bells, and snowmen, but there were also some ghosts and bats in there, too), and we set them out for Santa. He didn't disappoint!

Grayson got a little trampoline -- he's loved bouncing like a kangaroo, frog, lemur, and a monkey on it.

He spent the first hour just lining the animals up in various places around the room.

T slept in for a while, but when he woke up, he was excited for his bead toy, some books, and a teddy bear.

It was a fun, relaxed morning. Grayson gets so overwhelmed by all the usual Christmas festivities, so it was nice to have a morning to ourselves -- nowhere to be, no one to visit. We let Gray go through his presents at his own pace -- like I said, he spent an hour alone on the animals before he even looked at his other presents. It was early afternoon before he even got to the tramp, and he didn't look through his books until just before nap time. But he eventually got to everything, and loved it all. In his prayers that night, he thanked Heavenly Father for Santa and all his new presents. He said it was the "best day ever". And I'm excited to spend the rest of the time until Christmas focusing on the Savior, service, and family. Here's to new traditions :)

11 Months Old!

Baby Thatcher is 11 months old! (I'm late blogging about this -- he turned 11 months on 12/6/11). He is still just the sweetest little guy, and so happy and smiley! He has the best, deep gut-laugh that always makes everyone that hears it laugh right along with him. He's still not really crawling in the traditional sense, but he gets on his belly and pushes with his feet/pulls with his forearms, so he can get where he wants to go pretty well. He can pull himself up to standing very easily, and sometimes even does it without holding on to anything. He cruises around the furniture, and uses his play table as a kind of walker -- he pushes it in front of himself and shuffles along behind it. He has his bottom two teeth, and loves to eat Cheerios with them. He says 'dada', 'mama', 'daaa'(dog), 'naaanaa'(nonies), and 'baabaa' (brother, I think --he says it when he sees Grayson). He signs dad, mom, milk, eat, all done, binky, and more. He loves his Sophie giraffe toy, his rattle, books, and pretty much anything Grayson is playing with. We love you little T-bear!

Happy Thanksgiving

What a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are so blessed to have our families close by. We were fed well the last few days :)

My family went to my sister Sarah's house for Thanksgiving, and I was lamenting the loss of her great cooking, so my wonderful mom made Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night -- just for me!

T's first Thanksgiving -- he got Turkey and Sweet Potato baby food. He was SO excited that he got to sit at the table with everyone!

We were all too hungry to take a picture before we dug in. It was all beautiful and delicious.

Then on actual Thanksgiving, we spent the day with Steve's family.

Steve and Thatcher were supposed to be taking a nap -- notice which one is actually sleeping.

Gray had a great time playing with all the kids.

It was a lovely day of hanging out and relaxing with family.

10 Months Old!

Baby Thatcher is 10 months old -- my how time flies :) This sweet little guy is so much fun! He's changing so quickly. He says dada, mama, daaa (dog), and numerous babbles and coos. I swear he said 'Thatcher' today :D He signs 'eat', 'milk', and 'all done'. He still doesn't crawl, but he can kind of wiggle-worm his way around on the floor to get where he wants to go. He pulls himself up to standing really easily, and has started to cruise around the furniture. He'll even take steps if you hold his hands -- silly kid is going to walk before he crawls. He has one tooth so far, and is working on another one. He still just laughs and smiles all the time -- we love it! Here's some of his 10-month pics.

{Ok, so I have to insert a little story here, just so *I* can remember it -- it cracked me up. The reason the last few pics are just of Thatcher and me is that Gray decided he needed to go potty, and of course there was no potty around. So Steve drove him to a gas station, but their bathroom was out of order. So what's a guy to do? Find a rock. It was the highlight of his day -- Gray kept telling everyone he saw "I went pee-pee on a rock!" Hehe -- gotta love boys!}

We had a great Halloween! The weather was actually great, for once! And Grayson is old enough now to really get excited. So fun!

This is the pumpkin my visiting teaching companion Brandy carved for us. Isn't it awesome?!

He had a party at preschool, and wore the dragon costume there, too.

Gray made out like a bandit! He had such a blast at the trunk-or-treat, then hit up his Nani for candy, then Poppa took him trick-or-treating around their neighborhood. THEN we visited Grandma and Grandpa, and of course they spoiled him, too. AND, the best part -- I caught him taking candy out of our treat bowl for the trick-or-treaters -- one by one -- and putting them in HIS treat bag! Little stinker! :D
He counted it all this morning -- we counted 96 pieces! And that's after he'd already put some in the bag, and after he (ahem -- WE....), had already eaten some. I'd say that's enough to last him quite a while!!

We went over to the Hansens' farm (my uncle's family's) yesterday and picked out our pumpkins! Gray always gets so excited when he sees all the pumpkins -- they cover the whole lawn! He loves to climb on them for some reason. He had great fun with his favorite cousin Rowan :)

9 Months Old

Geez. This little guy just keeps getting bigger. Someone figure out a way to keep him little, already!! :)
He is just over 18 lbs (13%), just over 28 inches (73%). He is very close to crawling, but mostly just sits contentedly where I put him. He's such a sweet, chill little guy. He smiles, laughs, and babbles all the time -- mostly "dada" and "baba", and lots of "oooooOOOooo!". He is so much fun and I just kiss his little cheeks all day :)

My big brother JD just got married!!! He found a wonderful girl named Kenna, and we all love her to death! She fits him so well, and they are great together! They had their wedding this past Saturday on October 8th, and it was a beautiful, small, simple celebration in my parents' back yard. JD's best friend Matt got a minister's license and performed the ceremony for them. JD got down on one knee and 'proposed' to Kenna before he put the ring on her finger, because he felt 'jipped' that he never got to formally propose. JD snuck kisses in after he and Kenna both gave their vows (even after she said "You can't kiss me until the end!") -- it was very cute :) It was all very sweet and tender.
Steve and my sister Sarah took the pictures, and I got to edit them with my new editing software (thanks again, Steve-o!). I could not stop smiling the whole time I was editing them! I'm just so, so, SO happy for them!! Ready for the picture dump?! :) Here's a ton of fun pics -- I can't just pick a few favorites :)

"Camping" in the Canyon

On Friday, we drove up North Ogden Canyon to go "camping" -- meaning, we drove up there and stayed just long enough to play and eat -- then we drove home :). Steve's parents just bought new four-wheelers, so they wanted to try them out.

At first, Grayson didn't want to ride on one, but Steve convinced him to go by saying they could go see the cows down the road. Steve said Gray ended up loving it, and they had a great time!

Grandma Jeanne and I stayed behind with the boys while everyone else went out on a long ride on the 4-wheelers.

After four-wheeling, we had hobo dinners and s'mores. Gray just ate his marshmallows right off the stick -- the whole thing all at once :)

I'm a bit behind, but I took these pics when Thatcher turned 8 months (on Sept. 6th). I've just been waiting to edit them. Anyway, here's a bit about baby T lately.

T is still just the happiest little guy ever -- he is always smiling and laughing! Sometimes he laughs at the weirdest things -- one day he was just watching Grayson eat his sandwich, and he was full-out gut-laughing like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen! He's not so quiet anymore, however! The boy has found his voice, and loves to babble and/or screech! He says Da-Da (which Steve loves, of course), and baba, booooo, and mmmmm -- and other random sounds. We're working on the 'mama' :) . He still doesn't cry very often -- just when he's tired. He recognizes the signs for 'eat' and 'milk'. He loves yogurt, bananas, apple sauce, and peas. He doesn't like sweet potatoes or carrots (yet). He is so close to crawling, but isn't there quite yet. And I'm not gonna push it! I'm all about him staying in one place for as long as possible! Ha!
He is such a wonderful little guy, and such an important part of our family! We love you, baby T!

Grayson Lately

I just wanted to post some updates on Grayson. He is such a fun little guy, and is growing up so fast!
- Gray is very smart. He can spell his first and last name. He can even spell his first name backwards. He knows his phone number. He can count to 50 (with a few reminders -- sometimes he still says "28, 29, 20-10!" for 30). He can spell/read 'dog', 'cat', 'lion', 'mom', 'dad', 'hug', and a few more.
- He has an incredible memory. He came home from preschool one day and recited "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" to me from memory. Just from hearing it once at school. He also knows nearly every movie he's seen by heart, I swear. It's crazy.
- He loves books, movies, painting with sidewalk paint, and playing Angry Birds on my iPhone. (he's actually beaten some of my scores!)
- Gray is still a very picky eater, and it frustrates me to no end. :P Pretty much the only thing he's guaranteed to eat is pizza.
- Gray us a very good big brother, and loves to make Thatcher laugh. He gets him his binky when he cries, or tickles him until he's happy again.
- He loves to sing songs -- when it's his idea -- you can't just tell him to sing. He loves "I Am a Child of God", "Old Macdonald Had a Farm", "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes", "The Wheels on the Bus", and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". And any songs from his favorite shows :p
- He loves to help, and has a few chores he does himself. He's in charge of feeding the dog, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, and cleaning up his toys/books.
- Gray wants to be just like his daddy :). Right now his favorite pajamas are the 'Brasil' shirt Steve brought back from a work trip, and some blue striped gym shorts -- because his daddy has the same outfit that he sleeps in.
- He loves playing "Armadillo-Fish-Camel" with his daddy every night before bed. Don't even ask me what it is. I've watched them do it every night, but I still don't know what's going on. But they sure do!
- Gray calls M&Ms "em-anemones". He says rhinoceros "rhino-oceros". He says syrup "syrrie-lup".
- He is pretty much potty-trained! Just a few accidents every once in a while.
- He is LOVING preschool! He made the visor in this picture at preschool, and is very proud of it.

Yesterday (the 16th) was my 28th birthday! I had a wonderful day -- my husband spoiled me :)

Steve got me a new charm bead for my Pandora bracelet -- it's a cupcake! It's cute, because sometimes he calls me his "little cupcake" --hehe! He's going to love that I just posted that on the internet! :D I guess we could also say it's because I love baking. :)
Then I made yummy french toast for breakfast, and we all had a nice, lazy morning. Then came the very best present ever: Steve watched the boys while I got a THREE HOUR NAP!!!! Ahhhh, it was bliss, I tell you -- BLISS!
When I woke up from my nap, I found our happy birthday banner up, and Steve had helped Grayson make me a little sign that says "Happy Birthday Love you Mommy" -- Gray colored it himself. It's very cute. Then I found out that Steve had MORE presents for me! First I opened a photo printer that is FABULOUS -- it prints out professional-quality pictures! It's awesome. Next, I opened some photo editing software called Aperture -- Steve says he's read that it's better than PhotoShop -- so I can edit my photos myself. I asked him if it would work on my laptop (because I have a pretty old, crappy Dell that doesn't work well. And Aperture is Apple software), and Steve said yes, it would. So I opened my next present, and it was a NEW LAPTOP! He got me a brand-new MacBook Air! It's beautiful :) SO thin and sleek, and it has some great features -- I just don't know how to use them all yet! I've never had a Mac before, so I'm still figuring everything out -- but so far I love it! Wow, my hubby loves me :)

Then my wonderful parents watched the boys while Steve and I went to Ruby River -- I looooove their Filet Mignon and their cinnamon yams!! Mmmmm it was wonderful! AAAAAAAND -- to top of my perfect day, we stopped by Sandy's on the way home and got my very favorite treat in the world -- their fresh peach tart! Oh my, I swear it's heaven on a plate.

A Great Day at the Zoo

We had a great day today at the zoo! It wasn't too hot, there was a slight breeze, and there weren't many people there! I think I'll always wait til September to go :)

I brought our wagon, and it was wonderful. Gray and Row rode most of the time in it, and had a great time. (And I got a great work-out pulling them up all the hills!!)

Gray's First Day of Preschool!!

Today was this cute little dude's very first day of preschool! He was SO excited! Last week we went to the open house and met his teacher -- I took pictures of the room, the toys, the playground, and his teacher, and have been showing them to him every day since, and talking about it. I think it helped him know what to expect a little better. And last night he had a father's blessing from Steve -- it was tender and special. Gray gave him a huge hug afterward and said "Thank you, Daddy. I love you, Daddy." He seemed much calmer after the blessing, and was so excited for the next day. So when I dropped him off today, he just went right up to his teacher and said "Hi Miss Jill! I got a present for you! SURPRISE!" and gave her the apple in the apple cozy I made her. She said "Oh, Grayson, thank you! Can I have a hug?" And he just ran right to her and hugged her. Then he took her hand and walked right into the classroom -- only looked back at me once and said "Bye, Mom!". If you know Gray at all, you know this is a big deal. He nearly ALWAYS has a meltdown in new places/situations and in large groups. I was so proud of him. Oh, and I'm quite proud of myself for not crying, either :) I don't know if he had a hard time once he was there, but I didn't get a call from the teacher, and he was still super happy and excited when I picked him up. He went on and on about the book they read ("Monster was happy. Then Monster was sad. THEN, Monster was maaaaaaaad."), and the toys they played with, and the song they sang ("tra-la-la-la-la"). He even got to make a visor with a sticker of an iguanadon on it -- like his hair today (he thinks the spike in his hair looks like an iguanadon sail). I think it was a success! He can't wait to go back in a few days! Here's hoping the excitement lasts.

Thatcher sits up very well by himself. He loves to stand, and bounce in his jumperoo. He laughs at everything his big brother does -- he thinks Grayson is the best thing in the world. He goos and coos all the time, and loves to pop his fist in and out of his mouth and go "ba ba ba ba ba". He loves bananas, apple sauce, and peas. He doesn't love sweet potatoes (yet!). We love you, little T-bear!

Thatcher thinks he's such a big boy -- he can sit up by himself now, and can stand if he's holding on to something. He is getting too big, too fast! His 6 month stats (I'm a bit late, sorry) are 16 lbs 7 oz (16%), 27 inches (55%). Still just a tall, skinny little guy! He still has some wonderful chub, though :) He is so very sweet and happy. He has a deep laugh, and smiles all the time. We love him! :D

My little boy is getting so big! I just wanted to document some things he's been up to lately.

He's so cute and fun! :)

A few days ago, Gray came up to me crying, with his pointed finger extended. When I asked him what was wrong, he pouted "Mommy, I hurt my 'One'!"

The other day, my mom and dad took us out for ice cream at Farr's. Gray actually declined all offers to get him an ice cream cone (!), and instead persuaded his Poppa to buy him this buffalo. He was beyond excited, and has been carrying it around with him ever since.

T's First Taste of Food

Since T is officially now 6 months old, he got his first taste of baby cereal yesterday.

At first, he was pretty tentative, and mostly just pushed the food out of his mouth and chewed on the spoon.

Then, he decided it was pretty tasty.

And stole the spoon so he could suck every drop off.

He got FURIOUS when I took the spoon away, and would only calm down when I put another spoonful in his mouth.

By the end, he was covered head-to-toe in drool and cereal. And he ate the whole bowl.

I guess I've got a foodie on my hands :)

T is 6 Months Old

Thatcher Arie is 6 months old! I can't believe it's been a half a year since he was born! It's gone by way too fast. He's getting so big! According to my home scale, he is 20 lbs! Such a chub! T is such a sweet, happy little guy! He smiles and laughs all the time -- especially at Steve and Grayson. He rolls over both ways entirely too easily, and wiggles everywhere. He loves to stand up -- and can stand up by himself if he's holding up to something. He can almost sit up alone, but he'd rather stand up -- so he tries to stand up himself, and topples over. He loves his giraffe teething toy, his Jumperoo, and his binki blankets from Sweet Ruby. Grayson loves his baby brother, and is always trying to bring him toys, give him his binki, and give hm kisses and hugs. Gray is always saying "Baby Thatcher! He's soooo cute!" -- and he's right! Here are his soooo cute 6 month pictures.

We had a great Fourth of July -- lots of celebrating with family and friends!

On the 3rd, we had a Lowe family dinner at Ama's house:

After dinner, we went over to Steve's grandma Oka's house for fireworks. Gray loved the sparklers. He was scared to DEATH of the other fireworks. Full-on panic mode. They were loud and bright, and unexpected. Thatcher was looking pretty panicked as well, so we went inside, and then went home. Oh, well.

On the 4th, we went to the Cherry Days parade in North Ogden -- and sat on the Barker's lawn again (Thanks, Jacque and Tyson!) -- Gray was mostly just interested in the horses, then went and played on the swingset in the back yard -- until he fell off backward off the swing, and got a pretty good scrape/bruise on his back. Yeah, we went home after that, and got a good nap in.

After our nap, we went to the Barker's for a pool party and BBQ. Gray is also afraid of pools for whatever reason, so we had fun running around in the back yard until we ate :)

5 Months Old

My little T Bear is 5 months old! He is incredibly adorable. Take a look:

Thatcher thinks he is a big boy, and can almost sit by himself. He's also almost rolling over back to front. He loves to stand and can support himself just by holding your finger. He loves to laugh at Grayson and his daddy. And for some reason, he laughs SO hard when he's getting his clothes changed -- I guess it's pretty funny. I swear he is teething already, and is chewing/gnawing at everything within reach. He is so happy and fun, and we love him so much!

A Day Out With Thomas

What a fun day! We went down to the Heber Valley Railroad and got to ride on Thomas the Train! Grayson LOVES all things Thomas, so he was in heaven :)

Viva Las Vegas!

Grayson, Thatcher, my mom and I tagged along with Steve the first week in May -- he had a conference at Caesar's Palace he was attending/presenting at, so we came with him! My sister and her family live there, so we had lots of fun while Steve worked :)

The boys actually did great riding in the car for 8 hours straight. Better than I expected.

We stayed at the Caesar's Palace -- pretty nice. Lots of fountains and statues.

Gray loved the statues around Caesar's Palace -- especially the Pegasus. He didn't love the ones that moved, though -- they were a bit creepy.

Trent scored us FREE tickets to the Blue Man Group!!! It was awesome -- SO much fun! Thanks again, Trent!

We went to different parks a lot -- so many fun parks around where Sarah lived. One day, a guy came to the park with his two parrots! Gray loved them, and tried to climb right up on the bench with them -- until the guy told us they bite.

One day we went to this fun farm that offered pony rides. Grayson didn't want anything to do with the pony rides, but climbed into the pen with one of the horses. Go figure.

Grayson's favorite animals were the tortoises -- he kept going back to them over and over.

We had lots of fun in the Caesar's Palace pool! This was T's first time swimming, and he loved it! It helped that the pool was as warm as bath water.

We also had a fun time at the Mary Kay party at Sarah's house, and had a great time just hanging out! Thanks, Sar, for letting us come invade :) It was so fun to have a week of fun and sun!

This was right after I made Gray wear his nice corduroy pants when he wanted to wear his "blue pants" -- aka his jeans. He's getting quite oppinionated abouteverything, wardrobe included, so he was really mad at me. He had to have his new elephant (on his right), and Thatcher's new rhino (his left) to make him stop screaming/crying. (Thatcher is very nice to share his rhino with Gray). My mom got those for the boys for their Easter presents -- they're adorable!!!

We had Easter dinner at my parents' house on Sunday, and I didn't take any pictures. But it was delicious as always, and we had a lot of fun.

On Monday night, we went over to Steve's parents' house for dinner and Easter baskets -- so fun!

Thatcher is so much fun! He is so chill -- just goes with the flow. He smiles so big, and is starting to laugh -- no little baby giggles, either -- it's a big "HAH! HAH!" -- very funny. He loves watching Grayson and Ollie, but his very favorite person is his daddy. He is very strong, and can pretty much support his own weight while sitting and even standing for a few seconds. He eats like a champ, and is getting lots of chub :) He usually sleeps about 6 hours at night (YAY), except when he's building my milk supply up and thinks he needs to eat every 3 hours. He loves to snuggle, and *I* love to snuggle HIM! He is such a little sweetheart, and such a fun part of our lives.

Gray's Annual Haircut

Grayson is terrified of getting his hair cut. I mean scream-like-he's-getting-a-limb-cut-off terrified. Therefore, we don't really cut his hair. But it was getting out of control. So I held the poor child and did my best to distract him with games on my iPhone, while Steve buzzed his hair off. As quickly as possible -- therefore, it's nothing fancy. But he looks pretty darn cute!

He looks so much older now! And his big blue eyes stand out even more :)

He was pretty happy once it was all over. We gave him a sucker for being such a good boy (he really did TRY).

I have to say, I kind of miss his mop-top! But he never let me style it, and it was always in his eyes. He's a handsome boy either way :)

Thatcher's Room

I finally finished the projects I've been working on for Thatcher's room! I crocheted his name and hung it on the wall over his crib, and I also made him a mobile of forest animals. They definitely look home-made, but I think they turned out pretty cute!

Thatcher loves the mobile -- he smiles and kicks his feet while he watches it -- and now he's cooing and 'HAH!'-ing at it, too :)

Here's a close-up of his name. I wanted his name on the wall, but since it was going over the crib, I didn't want to buy heavy wooden letters that could fall on him. So I crocheted some -- I made them up as I went along, so they're not perfect.

I wrapped a wreath form in yarn for the ring. I liked these colors together.

I also made up these little mini animals -- they're all animals that are on his crib bedding. Here's the bear.

Bike Riding

Steve is an awesome daddy :) He took Grayson out during a moment of sunshine to teach him to ride his bike! My parents got this balance bike for Gray for Christmas in 2009, and he hasn't really learned how to ride it yet. I got him all safety-geared up, and they headed out to ride. Gray did great for his first time, and even balanced himself for brief periods. (Balance bikes are like big-kid bikes without pedals -- they just push the bike with their feet -- it supposedly teaches them how to balance on a bike faster) Steve was such a patient teacher and loved every second. I loved watching them, but I had to hide most of the time -- Gray would yell at me to get back inside if he saw me. What a goof. Such a precious memory :)

How cute is he?! I was only going to insist on wearing the helmet, but he saw the elbow and knee pads that go with the helmet, and wanted them on, too. Great!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! I'm not a huge celebrator of this day, (I'm Dutch, not Irish). But we did a few things. I tried to color Grayson's milk green, but he freaked out about it, so there was no coloring of his food. The boy doesn't like anything unexpected. We all wore green; both boys ended up getting two different green outfits for the day (I'll spare you the icky details).

Gray and I had fun playing with the camera on my phone -- you can look at yourself while you take the picture, so he made all sorts of faces. Lucky for me, one of the faces was a very cute smile :)

Gray really likes his daddy's knit hat. He's down wid it.

The weather was warm enough to spend some time outside -- the grass is starting to get green!

I made a somewhat green meal for dinner. Stuffed pasta shells (they have spinach in them) and green beans. On a green shamrock table cloth.

We turned Gray's water green for his bath. He actually liked that one.

Aaaaand that's about it. We're boring, I know. No cute little leprechaun feet or gold glitter all over the house. No treasure hunt for a pot of gold. I'm a boring mom.

Thatcher is 2 months old!

Baby T is 2 months old! He is 11 lbs (WHAT?!) and 23.5 inches long. He's almost DOUBLED his birth weight! Crazy growth-spurt there. He's still on the skinny side of the growth chart, though, and quite long for his age -- tall and skinny like his bro and dad. He had his 2 month check-up today, and got his shots -- he was a champ at first, and just did his usual "LA!" of protest, but when he woke up from his nap, he screamed bloody murder for a long time (have YOU every had three shots in one day? One of them a tetanus shot? I don't blame him). Poor little guy. Thatcher NEVER cries, so this was quite the deviation from normal -- it was so hard for me to listen to him scream like that!
Anyway, he is growing so well, eating so well, and looks good and healthy! He smiles all the time now, is starting to coo (LOVE!), holds his head up for a long time by himself, supports himself surprisingly well on his feet, and..........ready for this?!...........he already rolls over. From front to back. The first few times, I thought it was a fluke, but he does it CONSISTENTLY every single time I put him on his tummy. He even did it today for Dr. Strasser, and she was shocked. She said "Yep. He can roll over!" and laughed. He throws his head to the side, then wiggles and throws his feet over til he's completely on his back. Here's a video if you don't believe me:

I love this little sweet heart! He is so laid-back and chill -- something we need around here ;)
